  • The idea of religion in a city lives in both, the minds of people and the structures that claim to house religious deities. Therefore, there is no better way to understand the culture of religion in a city than visiting the holy home of a God. You will begin this tour by visiting the Jama Masjid which is one of the largest mosques in the country. Next, you will see the Sikh temple called Gurudwara Sis Ganj which was established in 1783 to commemorate the martyrdom of the 9th Sikh Guru, Tegh Bahadur. Post your tour of Old Delhi, you will be taken to St James Church (also known as Skinner's Church) which is an Anglican church built in 1836 by Colonel James Skinner. After a hearty lunch in the city (pay directly), you will be taken to visit Laxmi Narayan Temple, also known as Birla Mandir, one of Delhi's major temples built by an industrialist called Sh. J.K. Birla in 1939. Finally, you will be taken to visit the Nizamuddin area which offers one of the most esoteric experiences of Sufi culture in Delhi. Whilst visiting these sites you will learn from your guide about the popular idea of religion in Delhi.
