  • Visit a Tibetan home for a cooking demonstration followed by lunch or dinner. You may choose to participate in the cooking, or merely watch and learn.
  • Tibetan recipes are simple, hearty, and very warming—probably because Tibetan food developed over time for living at extreme high altitude where ingredients are scarce.
  • Though Tibetan food resembles Chinese food, its flavors have more in common with Bhutan and Nepal and northern Indian regions such as Sikkim, Ladakh and Lahaul. In addition to aromatics like ginger, garlic, coriander and green onion, the Tibetan cuisine uses spices like turmeric, black pepper, fenugreek, and cumin which makes it unique.
  • Traditional Tibetan cuisine mainly includes soups, noodles, breads and momos. Momos are stuffed dumplings. They can come steamed, fried or cooked in soup, with fillings of meat, potato, vegetable or dessert.
  • The menu can be customized to meet your diet preferences and do let us know if you have any food allergies.
