  • Kalighat Temple is an ancient temple though the present structure is about 200 years ago. Originally on the banks of the Hooghly river, the river moved away over time and now the temple stands on the banks of a small canal called Adi Ganga which connects to Hoogly. Unlike other Kali idols across India, the goddess in Kalighat has a golden tongue and 4 golden hands.
  • The Tipu Sultan mosque is a relic of architectural and cultural heritage of Kolkata where people from all sections of the society visit. It was built in 1832 by Ghulam Mohammed, the youngest son of Tipu Sultan.
  • St. Paul's Cathedral in Kolkata is the first Episcopal Church of the eastern world. As the cathedral is dedicated to Saint Paul, it depicts his life and also exhibits various representations of his holy deeds.
  • The Armenian Church of Kolkata is also known as “Mother Church of the Indian Armenians”. The Armenians who came to India as traders and eventually settled here also brought their tradition and religion and established churches across India.
  • Magen David Synagogue is one of the five synagogues in Kolkata. It is also the oldest Jewish worship place in the city.This synagogue was built by Elias Joseph Ezra, a renowned real estate agent of the city.
