  • Explore Leh and its surroundings on a bicycle. The unforgiving yet beautiful landscape of Ladakh, the isolated yet elaborate monasteries, and the weathered yet spiritual people make this a memorable ride.
  • Begin with Leh Palace and Mosque. Modelled on Potala Palace in Lhasa, Leh Palace was built by King Sengge Namgyal in the 17th century. The palace is nine storeys high and offers panoramic views of Leh and the surrounding areas. Right below the palace is the mosque. It is a mix of Islamic and Tibetan architecture and can accommodate about 500 people.
  • Continue to Shanti Stupa located on a hilltop in Changspa. Situated at a height of 4267 meters overlooking the Leh city, the Stupa gives a panoramic view of surrounding snow capped mountains.
  • Afterwards ride to Stok, a village on the left bank of the Indus. Visit the Stok Palace, a 5 storeys tall palace that was the official residence of the royal family of Ladakh. Continue to ride on the left bank of the river to Spituk. The Spituk monastery is known for its vast collection of Buddhist artefacts. Further up the hill is Mahakal Temple, where a fearsome image of Vajrabhairava is unveiled once a year at its annual festival.
  • After visiting Spituk, you will cycle back to Leh.
  • To cycle in Ladakh, you need to be a technically sound biker. You must preferably have prior experience of riding on rugged terrain and rough paved roads. Most sections of the road are asphalt surface. However, road conditions are unpredictable in this Himalayan region and could be under repair and not having an asphalt surface. Also, it is necessary that you are acclimatized to the high altitude before undertaking this tour (you should have spent atleast 2 days in Ladakh prior to this tour).
