  • Mumbai is a city of many faiths, where religious conviction and secularism go hand in hand. The city is home to Hindus, Muslims, Zoroastrians, Christians, Jains, and Buddhists. While it is often said that Mumbai is the city that is busy enough to never sleep, localities make the time to practice religion and visit temples. This tour is an experience that will showcase the religious diversity of this city. You will start the tour with a visit to the Kolis who are fisherfolk and were the original inhabitants of Mumbai. It is from them that the city gets its name. You will drive to Colaba to see the Parsis, a Zoroastrian community without which, Mumbai would not be the same. They have significantly contributed to the history of the city and their absence, it is believed, would affect the flavor of Bombay. You will also see St. Thomas Cathedral which is one of the oldest Anglican Churches in Mumbai. The Christian community here is an active part of the cities culture. Two Jewish communities, the Baghdadi Jews, and the Bene-Israel have been associated with the city in the past, especially for their contribution towards culture, heritage and monument building. We will take you to one of the oldest synagogues in Mumbai. Mumbai also has a large Muslim population, including Bohras, Khojas, Memons and several other communities. We will walk or drive through the by-lanes of Mohammed Ali Road for a glimpse of their lives. Lastly, for a glimpse of the large Hindu community, we will take you to see the Banganga water tank and the Walkeshwar temple, two of the oldest religious sites in Mumbai.
